Memorial Day Weekend

We spend Memorial Day weekend at Marsha's uncle Tim's house.

Friday the 22nd, Gary and Tim went out to see Star Trek. The girls all stayed at Tim's and watched a movie.
Saturday the 23rd, Gary helped work on Grandma and Grandpa Gordon's house; making a ramp, doing electrical work, and building some steps.

Sunday the 24th we visited Triangle Baptist with our nieces Maggie and Taron and Taron's beautiful baby girl Kaliah. After church we went to Taron and Chuck's for lunch. We had a great time! That night we went out to see "Night at the Museum 2." Maria sleeps through movies if we go late enough:)

Memorial Day Monday the 25th we stopped by Grandpa Gordon's so Macella could get her picture taken with him in his army uniform. She is doing a PowerPoint presentation about him for English class. Then we went dress shopping for Macella's upcoming Jr. Honor Society induction. In the afternoon we visited Gary's Dad and Brooke. We stopped by Grandma and Grandpa Gordon's and then on to the cemetary in Center Lisle. We just happened to run into Dale at the cemetary. We went to Mom and Dale's and Gary gave the kids rides on the 4-wheeler. Then we all headed back home!

Macella & Kirsite's school concerts

May 6th--Macella's chorus concert
May 15--Kirstie's band and chorus concert
May 21st Macella's band concert

Maria went to her first school concerts. She most assuredly enjoyed the seats and windows much more than watching the kids. She liked eating cheerios too. Since she can't hear herself making noise and we aren't sure how to get her to understand "sh" Marsha had to stand in the back at all the concerts due to Maria's "mmmmmm" noises and her laughing---at least she was happy!

Speech therapy beginning May 18th

Since Maria's therapy services will not start until after the 4th of July we signed her up for speech services at Ithaca College. She will go for speech therapy on Mondays and Wednesdays from May 18th until June 24th. Goals will be to work on beginning play skills, such as turn taking, as well as eye contact and beginning sign language.

Marsha's graduation and hooding ceremony

May 16th--Graduate hooding ceremony.

Marsha's hooding ceremony was from 2:30-4:00 at Ithaca College. It was very nice. Gary, Marsha's mom and Dale, Grandpa Gordon, Uncle Tim, and Aunt Joy were able to attend. Our sister-in-law Lana and niece Maggie babysat Macella, Kirstie, and Maria while we were gone for the day. They went to Chili's. Lana's favorite moment was Maria's feet coming straight from under the table to the top of the table.

May 17th--Graduation at 9am, which took a very long time:)
Gary, Macella, Kirstie, Maria, and Marsha's mom and Dale came to the ceremony. It was outdoors and very cold! We all survived though!

Officially since Marsha took 4 weeks off from college to prepare for Maria, travel to China, and stay home for a week, she still has 4 weeks left in her internship. She finishes at Cayuga Medical Center on June 11th. The graduation date on her diploma will be August 15th. Can't wait for it to be official!

CPSE meeting

May 12th--Maria's first CPSE meeting

This morning at 8am Maria had her first CPSE meeting. Gary and I went together. It was quite funny that all the other professionals (save one) had speech pathology degrees. They were representatives from the county and the school district. We talked awhile and then determined that it would be best for Maria to receive all of her services at home. She was eligible for special ed, speech therapy (ST), occupational therapy (OT), and physical therapy (PT). We decided that speech would be 3x/week for 1 1/2 hours, PT would be 2x/week for 1/2 hour, and OT would be 3x/week for a 1/2 hour. We decided not to have a separate special education teacher. Instead we are hoping for a speech pathologist who is also an educator of the deaf. These therapies will all start the week after the 4th of July. It will be a very busy summer indeed!

May 9th--Gary works on Grandpa & Grandma Gordon's house. We spend the night at mom and Dale's house.

May 10th--Mother's Day
Mother's day was busy with visiting all the mom's (grandma's). We went to UCCC. Then we went out to lunch with Marsha's mom and Dale and Gary's step-mom and Brooke. We then visited grandma and grandpa Gordon. Later in the afternoon we visited Marsha's step-mom Shirley. We finally made it home around 11pm. A busy day for sure!

Maria's 3rd Birthday

Sunday, May 3rd, Maria's 3rd birthday!! We went to Breesport to church with our friends Jeremiah & Ana, and their kids Caleb, Josh, & Abby. Afterward, we all came home for pizza, chips, ice cream, and cake. The kids had a great time and all blew out the candles together. Maria had her own little cake that she played with and smashed up. She had a great time. Maria had no desire to open gifts. She sat in her little rocking chair while we placed gifts in her lap and she threw them onto the floor. All the other kids decided to just take turns and open up the gifts for her. It became everyone's party!

Beauty and the Beast Play in Bath

Saturday May 2nd: We took all three girls to see The Beauty and the Beast in Bath. It was Maria's first play. She was more interested in the Exit signs. We sat in the back row, so we could stand in the back with Maria. I think everyone (save Gary) had a good time. On the way home we stopped at Walmart to buy some birthday gifts for Maria.
